About the Journal

The Journal of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (JMID) is an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing research and knowledge in microbiology, infectious diseases, virology, parasitology, and mycology. JMID is published quarterly, in March, June, September, and December.

Established in June 2011, JMID was founded with the aim of promoting scientific collaboration and communication among researchers from developing and developed countries. The journal provides an international platform for researchers worldwide to disseminate high-quality scientific findings and contribute to advances in the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and management of infectious diseases.

JMID publishes original research articles, review articles, short communications, case reports, letters to the editor, clinical images, research notes, and guidance documents covering a broad range of topics in human, animal, and environmental microbiology and infectious diseases. The journal has particular interest in research addressing emerging and re-emerging infectious agents, microbial pathogenesis, diagnosis, epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, surveillance, prevention and control, and public health.

The journal welcomes experimental, clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory-based investigations, including meta-analyses, invited reviews, original research studies, case reports, letters to the editor, and clinical images. Research involving animals and in vitro models in the fields of medical microbiology and infectious diseases is also considered, provided that appropriate ethical standards are followed.

All manuscripts must be submitted in English and are evaluated through a rigorous peer-review process. Each submission is initially assessed by the editorial team for suitability, scope, scientific quality, ethical compliance, and readiness for peer review. Manuscripts considered suitable for further evaluation are assigned to appropriate editors and qualified independent reviewers. The final decision regarding publication rests with the journal's editorial team.

JMID is committed to maintaining high standards of research integrity, publication ethics, transparency, and editorial independence. The journal follows internationally recognized principles and best practices in scholarly publishing and expects authors, reviewers, and editors to comply with applicable ethical and publication standards.

The journal also recognizes the importance of supporting researchers and, where appropriate, the editorial team may provide constructive guidance to authors to help improve the clarity, presentation, and methodological reporting of manuscripts. Such guidance does not replace the journal's peer-review and editorial decision-making processes.
